Description

Lady Jane has been the perfect boat for us. She has seen us safely and reliably across two oceans: from the UK to the South Pacific and has never missed a beat. She has provided a haven for us in parts of the world where accommodation is either unavailable or ridiculously expensive. And her accommodation is exceptionally comfortable with her queen-sized island bed, lots of saloon seating and plenty of sunbathing space.

But, with a family expanding faster than a bamboo forest thanks to the combined efforts of our two daughters and partners, we are in the process of buying a bigger boat to accommodate a growing mob of grandchildren.

And because we have already bought another boat, we are keen to sell Lady Jane as soon as possible. Consequently, even though she is (as far as I can tell) the best-equipped Moody 425 currently on the market (take a look at Yachtworld), she is for sale. That’s little more than the cost of recent improvements and way less than the best of the other Moody 425s for sale out there.

We can’t hold this price for long, however. If we don’t sell privately, we will need to sell via a broker and increase the price to allow for additional fees.

We have spent a small fortune on making sure that Lady Jane is updated. The list at the end of this page represents just some of the additions and improvement made. As a brief summary:

Her 800 watts of solar produces enough power to sustain the fridge and freezer at anchor while keeping the batteries in top condition, and the recently installed 2,500-watt Mastervolt inverter delivers enough oomph to run a breadmaker, the microwave, boil the kettle, and power a halogen hob.

The 12v Osmosea watermaker produces around 24 litres per hour and takes only a few amps of power, so we are water self-sufficient
The standing rigging is only 6-years old, and it is in excellent condition. And we have recently fitted a new hydraulic backstay adjuster to replace the original one fitted to the boat, and the rig has just been tuned.

The sails are in great shape: serviced in Panama and again in Tahiti last year when Tahiti Sails replaced the Genoa UV strip. And those sails have propelled Lady Jane along at speeds that embarrass many bigger boats, including catamarans, when going downwind.

The engine is, in our view, one of the best available for a sailboat. The Beta Marine Beta 60 – based on a Kubota engine – has no complicated electronics, and spares are readily available, and so is technical advice. And of course, the engine has been consistently maintained.

The rest of the improvements are contained in the list below.

Lady Jane is in French Polynesia, which is a perfect place to keep a boat and explore all year round. Environmental risks are very low, and the entire region is stunningly beautiful – look on our website for evidence of that. And from here, it’s the ‘coconut milk run’ all the way towards Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand as soon as the borders re-open. Although, many people decide to stay here for years before moving on.

We are on our second year here and are keen to return as quickly as we can to this stunning location with our new boat.

Although Lady Jane is currently in the Marquesas for the summer season that runs through to May, we can arrange to deliver her anywhere in the Tuamotus islands or to Tahiti if that is where you choose to keep her. Or, if you want her elsewhere, we can discuss that too.

Of course, we have mixed emotions about selling Lady Jane. After all, she has looked after us very well in the five years we have owned her. But we are sure that whoever buys her will love her as much as we do. And as an added bonus, you will get a brand new AB dinghy that is currently on its way to Nuku Hiva from the UK.

If you are interested, get in touch and we will send you some more information – including details on the cost of improvements made.
