BRAND NEW!
We are currently taking orders for new Kites for 2022!
Designed by Andrew Wolstenholme and built entirely in the UK by Demon Yachts in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. The Kite is a 23' gaff sloop-rigged centre-boarder with a light and airy two-berth cabin, a generous cockpit, light carbon spars and a weight that allows her to be trailed easily behind a family car.
Best of all is her performance! Kites are well-known for surprising performances on the race course including wins at many OGA events, Falmouth Classics and Aldeburgh Regatta.
She has a sloop-rigged, deck-stepped mast with lightweight white-painted carbon-fibre spars for ease of rigging (stepping the mast is a one-handed job!), and a varnished spruce bowsprit.
The rudder is a NACA sectioned balanced lifting rudder with an ash and mahogany tiller. The internally lead-ballasted centre-board is raised and lowered via a differential winch and easily operated from the cockpit.
Mahogany varnished coamings around the cockpit offer protection and make a large spacious, sit-in cockpit. Teak hand rails on the coachroof and a moulded-in easy-to-clean non-slip finish help crew to feel safe and secure.
Four large cockpit lockers include dedicated outboard stowage that complies with boat safety scheme regulations. There’s a forward draining well for anchor stowage, mooring cleat etc, and at the aft end of the boat an outboard well with hull infill, petrol storage and lid, suitable for outboards up to 6hp. Many of our existing customers have chosen to use an electric outboard which we can supply. A retractable electric pod motor is also an option.
The twin-bunk cabin has a satin light grey finish with timber trims giving an airy but traditional feel. Good lighting and ventilation are provided by two oval cabin side portholes, and two opening cabin front portlights.
The boat incorporates ample storage space for personal and essential equipment. There is provision for a portable gas stove, and a porta potty.
